Deeply rooted in tradition, the women of Spelman college are posed to make an impact and change the world for the better. When asked to design a dessert table for a recent Spelman graduate one thing I was certain about was the white dress must be included. Since the early 1900’s Spelman women have worn a white dress for special occasions like new student orientation, Founders Day Convocation and for Baccalaureate and Commencement. Likewise Alumnae wear white during alumnae functions and for the time honored tradition of marching through the Alumnae Arch on campus. The sisterhood is timeless across generations.
The overall design theme is girly southern charm which I think fits the culture and personality of the Spelman women.
